Reservations and Payments

A deposit of $250 is required to reserve your space. You can then make regular installment payments. Quoted tour prices are subject to change without notice due to airline and hotel price increases. However, you will not be affected by any price increase after you have paid a minimum of $1000 towards your tour price. Final payment is due no later than 90 days before your scheduled tour departure date.

Tour prices stated are per person and based on double occupancy and economy airfare from New York or the Washington D.C. area.. A single room upgrade may be available. If a single room upgrade is available, the cost of the upgrade will be based on the number of nights in your tour. Contact us if you are interested in a business-class air travel upgrade or a single room upgrade.

Quoted tour prices are subject to change without notice due to airline, hotel or other service provider price increases.

We reserve the right to correct any pricing error.



Cancellations and Refunds

In the rare event that African Connections must cancel a tour, all tour members will be notified a minimum of 30 days before the trip is scheduled to depart.

African Connections reserves the right to cancel any tour for any reason, including insufficient tour enrollment. African Connections is not responsible for expenses incurred by guests in preparing for a cancelled tour, including, but not limited to, nonrefundable airline tickets, visa fees, immunizations, equipment, etc. We encourage you to contact our office prior to purchasing airline tickets to check the status of your tour.

If for any reason African Connections cancels or reschedules a tour for which you are registered, you will be entitled to full credit for all amounts you have paid without any deduction. This credit can be applied to any other African Connections tour. This credit must be utilized within 36 months of cancellation.

If you need to cancel your trip, you should contact African Connections via email at reservations@africanconnections-usa.com . Certain fees will apply calculated as of the date that African Connections receives written notification of cancellation.



$100 Credit For Subscribers’ List Signup

You will receive a one-time credit of $100 if you join our Subscribers’ list. This credit can be used on the first tour that you book with us. The credit must be used within 36 months of your sign up.



Cancellation Fee Schedule

  • > Minimum fee of $100 per person will apply to all cancellations.
  • > 90-61 days prior to scheduled departure is 25% of trip price.
  • > 60-46 days prior to scheduled departure is 50% of trip price. Cancellation Charge
  • > 45-0 days prior to scheduled departure is 100% of the trip price.



In addition, to any cancellation fee stated above, a non-refundable administrative processing fee of $200 per person will be assessed to any cancellation.



Trip Cancellation Insurance

We strongly recommend purchasing Trip Cancellation and Interruption Insurance.



What Your Trip Includes

If your tour price includes international air travel, it will include airfare from one designated U.S. airport, for example, JFK in New York. If you don’t live near the designated airport, it will be your responsibility to get yourself to the designated airport in time to complete all departure procedures.

The land cost for a typical tour includes the following:

  • > Expert tour management
  • > Knowledgeable tour guides
  • > Accommodations during your tour
  • > Meals as outlined in the itinerary
  • > All activities outlined in the itinerary
  • > Ground transportation
  • > Airport transfers
  • > Luggage transport
  • > Entrance fees and permits
  • > Gratuities for meals, porters and hotel service.

Optional gratuities for your guides and personal items are not included.



Custom Tours

Plan ahead! While we can organize amazing customized tours with as little as 6-8 weeks’ notice, we recommend contacting us at least 12 months ahead to assure the best availability for your dates.

In recognition of the additional time required to customize an itinerary to meet your specifications, African Connections may charge a Custom Tour Planning Fee. This fee, payable at the end of the initial consultation, is non- refundable and will be applied to the final balance of the trip. This fee allows for up to 10 hours of the Tour Planner’s time. For longer, more complex trips, or subsequent changes made to the preliminary itinerary at the traveler’s request, an additional Custom Tour Planning fee may be charged separately from the final balance of the trip.



Air Arrangements

In our commitment to keeping your tour costs low, while providing you the best tour experience, we take advantage of the promotional fares offered by several different airlines. This might result in our changing travel schedules and or changing listed airlines. However, African Connections will not change the airline or travel schedule within 30 days of your scheduled travel date.

Despite African Connections’ commitment not to change the travel schedule within 30 days of your scheduled travel date, international air schedules are subject to change at any time. If you are responsible for purchasing domestic tickets to connect with an international flight, you must be sure you arrange for a flight that will not compromise your on-time arrival for your international flight.

We recommend that you do not purchase domestic air tickets with high penalty charges for changes. We further recommend that you wait to purchase your domestic air ticket until 29 days before your departure.

We also recommend that you contact your airline at least 30 days prior to your departure to determine its pre-departure procedures and requirements for boarding and travel to your destination. You should further note that airline pre-departure procedures and requirement are subject to change at any time.

It is your responsibility to comply with all airline pre-departure procedures and requirements.

African Connections assumes no responsibility for travelers who fail to comply with airline pre-departure procedures and requirements.



Passports and Visas

A valid passport is required for all international travel. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of your arrival back in your home country. Check your passport expiration date to be sure it meets this requirement and if necessary, apply for a renewal as soon as possible. You will not be allowed to board your departure flight if your passport expiration date is within six months of your scheduled return to your home country.

You also must also have a valid visa to entry must countries. If you need assistance concerning such requirements, African Connections recommends that you contact a visa service provider.

It is your responsibility to comply with all passport, visa and any other travel requirement of any country visited.

African Connections assumes no responsibility for travelers who fail to comply with passport, visa or any other travel requirement of any country visited.



Immunization and Medical Information

Travelers should frequently check the immunization requirements for each country that they plan to visit prior to departure because vaccination requirements may change.

It is your responsibility to comply with all immunization requirements.

African Connections assumes no responsibility for travelers who fail to comply with immunization requirements.

Your doctor might also recommend other vaccinations which are not mandatory for travel to the host country.

While it is not mandatory, it is very important for you acquire anti-malarial medication. Malaria is a serious potential (but treatable) health threat you should take necessary precautions to minimize your risk. It is also a good idea to bring your favorite mosquito repellant to further protect yourself from the mosquitos that you will encounter.



Immunization and Medical Information

Coronavirus travel requirements vary country by country and are subject to change at any time.

If after booking your trip you decide not to travel if for example:

  • > You have to self-isolate
  • > You have to quarantine
  • > Coronavirus restrictions change in the place you’re visiting



You will be entitled to a travel credit for the full amount that you paid for your original booking. You can use this travel credit to travel at another time or to a new destination. This travel credit, if not used, will expire 36 months from the date of your cancellation.

Roommate Requests

Tours are priced based on the assumption of double occupancy. If you are traveling in a group and you would like to request a roommate, please let us know as soon as possible. If you are traveling alone and cannot make a roommate request, we will attempt to find a roommate for you. However, if despite our best efforts, we are unable to find a roommate for you, you will be responsible for the payment of the single room surcharge.

If you require a roommate, it will be advantageous to book your tour as soon as possible as we fill roommate requests on a first come – first serve basis.



Responsibility

The responsibility of African Connections is strictly limited. As an in-bound tour operator, African Connections organizes, promotes, and sells tour packages consisting of certain travel services, including, but not limited to international air travel, surface transportation, sightseeing excursions, and hotel accommodations. African Connections purchases these services from various suppliers.

The suppliers providing travel services for African Connections’ tour programs are independent contractors and are not agents or employees of African Connections. In addition, African Connections does not act as agent for any party whatsoever. African Connections is not responsible for the willful or negligent acts and/or omissions of such suppliers or of any air carrier or their respective employees, agents, servants, or representatives, including, without limitation, their failure to deliver or their partial or inadequate delivery of services.

By utilizing the travel services of the suppliers, hotels and air carriers you agree that African Connections shall not be liable for any accident, injury, property damage, or personal loss to you or to those traveling with you in connection with any accommodation, transportation, or other travel service, or resulting directly or indirectly from any occurrence or condition beyond African Connections’ control, including, but not limited to, acts of terrorism, war, defects in vehicles, breakdown in equipment, strikes, theft, or delay or changes in itinerary or schedules. All pricing is subject to change. Hotels and other accommodations are subject to change.
